The YES Quest book
I'll be honest with you, my life is pretty damn amazing......but a year ago I couldn't appreciate any of it.
I was constantly angry, frustrated, depressed and more than anything, disappointed. My expectations were so unrealistic that I was chronically disappointed by just about everything that happened in my life:
My family and friends don't live up to my ridiculous expectations...disappointed.
A cold day in the middle of summer...disappointed.
The house is dirty 3 days after I cleaned it...disappointed.
My 3-year-old is sick again...disappointed.
The neighbours are doing shit with power-tools right now... disappointed.
I can't afford to go on a holiday... disappointed.
My racing mind is keeping me awake at night... disappointed.
My husband cut the eggplant "wrong"... disappointed.
This habit had me living in stress, focusing on the negative and running away when life got too hard.
I was a victim of my own thinking.
Even though it was kinda normal for me to feel like this, I was slowly becoming aware of my struggle with reality and I desperately wanted to do something about it - but had no idea where to start.
So in December 2014, I’m reading “The Happiness of Pursuit” by Chris Guillebeau, and this idea of going on a personal quest was planted in my brain. I decide to challenge myself to go for an entire year without feeling disappointed, in other words, saying “Yes” to my life, accepting everything that comes my way, rather than fighting my reality all the time.
My own personal Yes Quest. I lived it and wrote about it.
