A Heartfelt Letter To My 16-Year-Old Self

A Heartfelt Letter To My 16-Year-Old Self

Dear Naomi,

I know that you binge eat and starve yourself. I know that you cut yourself to feel better. I know that anxiety rules your life. I know that you have secrets. I know that you’ve lost interest in school and are just waiting for your life to begin. I know that right now, it’s hard.

I understand you. I feel you. I respect you. I love you.  I know that you’re not used to being understood, respected and loved, but I assure you that you are. Can you feel it?

There are people in your life who tell you that you are bad, wrong, ugly, stupid and worthless but you don’t need to believe them.

You are worthy, beautiful and strong. Your rebellion is leading you on a divine path of self-discovery, insight and healing. Trust it. Follow it. Live it.

I believe in you. I believe that you have a great gift to offer the world. Everything that you’re experiencing right now is preparing you for a thrilling and abundant future.

Keep writing… lists, notes, poems, songs, stories, ideas. Through writing you will heal yourself and inspire others. I guarantee it.

I know that you feel completely alone today on your 16th Birthday but I want to let you know that you are loved and cared for. I’m sure that you can feel me here with you. The sense that all will be ok amongst the chaos. The feeling that life is worth the hard stuff. That’s my presence, guiding you through.

I have no advice for you. Only acceptance. I forgive you for hating yourself. I love you no matter what. I trust your ability to trust yourself, and that’s all you really need. You’ve got this.

From the future with love, Your 31-year-old-self

p.s. you turn out alright.
